It's Been A Very Good Year, 2016
Installation
Painted fragments on paper
Addressing the specificity that a family owned domestic space demands, It’s Been a Very Good Year uses decorative iron vines fencing as a symbol for cultivating civility. The popularity of decorative iron vines in domestic and commercial spaces as a means to provide an organic feel to architectural structures infuses the characteristics of this project. Soto uses simple clip art sources and decorative applications to recreate representations of vines in the walls of the domestic space. Vines are associated with interconnection, opportunity, fertility, continuation, eternity and diversity. It lives a trail, and promises celebrations.
