It’s Been a Very Good Year II
It's Been A Very Good Year, 2016
Installation
Painted fragments on paper
It’s Been a Very Good Year uses decorative iron vine fencing as a symbol for cultivating civility. Artist, Edra Soto alludes to the popular decorative iron vines that are used as a means to provide
an organic feel to architectural structures. She implements this strategy by using simple clip art sources and decorative applications in order to recreate representations of the iron vines. The installation, It’s Been a Very Good Year, points to the concepts associated with vines, i.e. interconnection, opportunity, fertility, continuation, eternity and diversity. Metaphorically Soto emphasizes the way vines leave a trail, and promise celebrations.
